The history of INTEC Education College (formerly known as KPP/PPP) goes back to 1983 when UiTM (used to be ITM) was given the task of preparing overseas bound students with the necessary academic skills and knowledge before continuing their studies abroad. To date, thousands of students who began their studies at this campus had successfully completed their university education studies at prestigious universities in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, Japan, Korea and the Middle-East.
Formerly known as the Centre for Preparatory Studies or Pusat Pendidikan Persediaan (PPP), the college is one of the pioneers of international education in Malaysia. However, the national economic downturn in 1997 allowed only the concentration of preparatory programmes for the United States and Germany. In the year 2000, the college changed its name to Overseas Preparatory Programme (OPP) or Program Persediaan Luar Negeri (PPLN). In 2001, it was known as the International Education Centre (INTEC). This name was used for 9 years until in 2010, the college was then introduced as International Education College (INTEC), instead of ‘Centre’. As it developed, INTEC has received the mandate to operate as a private institution and was rebranding to INTEC Education College. These changes have reflected on its visions in promoting international education.
INTEC now offers overseas preparatory programmes that include American Degree Foundation Programme (ADFP), American Credit Transfer Programme (ACTP), A-Level, A-Level German (ALG), SACE International programme (formerly known as AUSMAT), Look-East Policy Japan Programme, Look-East Policy Korean Programme, INTEC Foundation Studies: France and INTEC Foundation Studies: Middle-East. In 2014 after INTEC received the license to operate as a private tertiary institution, it introduced two Diploma programmes which are Diploma in Business Management (DBM) and Diploma in Public Management and Governance (DPMG), and a preparatory programme which is Intensive Bridging Programme (IBP) for SPM leavers.
As a positive response to the government’s objective in producing more professional accountants, INTEC has become the Centre for Professional Accountancy Programme. INTEC offers courses like Certified Accounting Technicians (CAT) and The Association of Charted Certified Accountants (ACCA).
On top of all, INTEC provides excellent learning facilities including well-equipped computer labs, science and language labs, sophisticated library with adequate references, sports and recreational facilities, counselling services, support for comprehensive student activities as well as multi-purpose halls. INTEC objective is to prepare well rounded students who are not only excellent in academic but also in soft skills management. Students are guided physically, mentally and spiritually in order to face the future challenges through various activities conducted at INTEC Education College.
