MYREN Network Sdn Bhd (MNSB) is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) company set up to execute and implement the mandate given by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) to UiTM Holdings Group of Companies as the coordinator in creating a consortium of Public Universities to offer dark fibre to Malaysian Institutions of Higher Education. The project will provide a dedicated high-speed ICT network to all Higher Education Institutions and research establishments in order to support current and future demands in education and research.
The dedicated network main trunk comprises of multiple 100 Gbps Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) connections. The Network aggregation points (Point of Presence or POP) are in the form of multiple services (1–100 Gbps) via DWDM and Metro Ethernet connections to the Higher Education Institutions. The network is also connected to the Internet Exchange (IX) for internet access and its related services, and has up to 10 Gbps connection to Trans-Eurasia Information Network (TEIN), enabling Malaysian education and research users access to other Research and Education Networks (RENs) worldwide and vice-versa.
MNSB will build, own and operate the dedicated network and is licensed to provide dark fibre, bandwidth, applications and services by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), the local industry regulator. The dedicated network and its services will also be offered for subscription to the private universities and colleges, ensuring all sectors of the country’s education community are not left out from being provided access to high speed internet and network services.
